The organization the METCALF brings to the table is hard to beat, double lid pockets, a lower exterior pocket on the left side for quick access, and a mondo full length side-zip on the right side, and a large water bottle pocket on the right. We use the water bottle pocket for tripod storage and load our spotting scope just inside that side zip - so you don't have to root around in your pack to access the gear you need midday.
With ample compression straps, featuring beefy locking buckles, the load stays secure all day long and the burden of the pack is transitioned away from the oversized side-zip.
When you punch your tag, the overload shelf opens up to accept big heavy loads. For years we ran great big packs with excess capacity to pack game and camp out, at any point in the hunt. The well-designed Overload Shelf this pack offers allows us to expand useful volume and load meat, head, and capes for the pack out.
